The Office of Deployment assists congregations, agencies and the diocesan staff in finding suitable candidates for ministry positions; consults with congregations on the search process for clergy leadership and on interim ministry; advises clergy on preparing for a new call; and supervises the mentoring program for new clergy: Making Excellent Disciples.

In addition to Making Excellent Disciples—a five-year pilot project funded by Lilly Endowment—the Office of Deployment and Congregational Development coordinates the Fresh Start program, and conducts an annual workshop on the Church Deployment Office (CDO) profile, the workhorse of clergy searches.
